Library Time

Every week we visit the library.

We get to read our favourite books and choose some ne ones to take back to class.

We have some brand new soft toys that we can cuddle up and read to.

Miss Zeier really liked the frog toy!

Friday Art

This week our poem was 'Bouncing Grandma' by Jill Eggleton. Look at how hard we were working at creating an illustration to go with our poem. We all drew a different picture, some of us had grandma jump over a bird, or a plane, or the sky tower and even the moon.

We also chose our own final design to make stencils for our art exhibition piece. We got to choose which shape we wanted to draw. Once we were happy with what we had drawn we drew it on to card and cut it out.

Keep an eye out for the next thing we do.

Art Exhibition 2012

We have started working on our art exhibition piece. It will have different layers.

The first layer of our picture is collaged newspaper and magazines. We needed to make sure we covered all of our paper and have all the pieces glued carefully down so it is ready for the next step.

You will have to wait and see how that turns out.
Keep checking back for an update!

Special Guests

Today we had two special visits. One was from Brian and Bobby who talked to us all about serial numbers and how we can enter the serial numbers on the back of things like TV's, phones, play stations on to the internet in case they get lost or stolen.

Our second visit was from the Our far South Team and Shackleton Bear who came to talk about their adventures to antarctica. We learnt all about penguins, seals and icebergs.

They are working hard to raise a million dollars to rid mice from the Antipodes Islands that eat the eggs and baby chicks of the seabirds.

Geometry

In maths we have been learning about the features of 2D shapes. We talked about the number of sides and points a shape has. Can you name some of the shapes that we made?

We also looked at the position and orientation of shapes. We made a school out of our maths equipment and hid a sticker under one of the shapes. We used instructions such as "move 3 jumps" and "turn left" to help the other group find the sticker.
